FireHouse Subs
Description:
FireHouse Subs was founded by Robin and Chris Sorenson, two firefighting brothers cut from the
cloth of a family legacy with over 200 years of combined firefighting experience. In 1994
Robin and Chris decided to create a restaurant built firmly on the pride and honor of one of
the firehouse's most storied traditions- making great food.
For those who haven't been in a firehouse around dinner time, meals are an event.
The kitchen is a place for camaraderie, great food and massive appetites. And if it's
your turn to cook, you'd better make something hearty, filling and most importantly,
delicious. Because if you don't, you'll have a room full of some of the toughest men and
women on the planet breathing down your neck. Talk about pressure! So, it's safe to say
that our sandwich recipes have passed some pretty brutal taste tests. And if given the chance,
we think they'll earn your stomach's respect too.
The association of great food and the firehouse is a simple one. Fire personnel are on call
24 hours a day so you can't go out and eat whenever you please. You have to be at the station,
on guard, ready to roll on a moment's notice. That means meals are made on site. Food becomes a
focus, a sanctuary of sorts, and the result is some incredible home-cooked cuisine.
That's the kind of food our founders, Robin and Chris Sorenson served up when they
cooked in the firehouse. Big, Satisfying subs loaded with freshly sliced meat, plenty
of toppings and a unique flavor like nothing you've ever tasted before.

After initial interview and pre approval, you will work 100 hours in the Area Representative’s
Training Restaurant, rotating through every job position. Based upon your performance during the
100 Hour Program, the Area Representative will offer their recommendation for or against approval
(the final decision rests with the three principals and COO). Following approval, the
franchise agreement is executed. It is then your responsibility to locate a site for your
restaurant, and submit it to FOA for approval. Once the site is approved, you will submit the lease
for FOA’s approval. After the lease is signed, you will begin a six week training program at the
Area Representative’s Training Restaurant.
Finally, you will attend a one-week certification program conducted at
our training facility in Jacksonville. Our experienced training staff, led by our Director
of Training, Susan Andrews, will ensure that you have developed the necessary skills to
successfully operate your new restaurant. Franchise candidates who successfully complete this
final program are officially certified and--if they meet all other conditions--may open a Firehouse Subs® restaurant.
